BabyQuest serves the families of Reston Bible Church who have children under the age of 3.

Our desire is to provide a safe and Christ-honoring environment for your child to play, explore, and interact with other children and adults while you, the parent, worship God and learn from the preaching of His Word. Our nursery is staffed by dedicated volunteers from our congregation.

Caring for Your Children

In BabyQuest, we care for children from birth through 2 years of age (Infants, Wobblers and Swimmers). Children turning 2 years old by October 1st will remain in the nursery until the next promotion weekend in late August each year. We call it “Move Up Sunday.” At that time they graduate to the Swimmers class (2-3 year olds). All Swimmers will graduate to the Divers class (3-4 year olds) on that same weekend. If you have an infant and are not ready to have them cared for in the nursery, the Infant Care Room, located at the back of the sanctuary, is available for your use. The Infant Care Room is for healthy families and is not to be used for those who are sick. The service is also livestreamed in the lobby where you can find space to be with your children. You may also view the service while nursing your infant in the BabyQuest Infant Nursery room. And don’t forget to check out the Quest Library for the family!

While your child is in our care, they will receive plenty of free time to play with age-appropriate toys, have books read to them, sing songs, be prayed over, as well as receive short lessons from Bible stories or topics.

We recognize that putting your child in the nursery for the first time can cause anxiety for both parents and children. We want to work with you to provide the best experience possible. Parents are certainly welcome to stay with their child at first to get them adjusted to our BabyQuest rooms. If your child is potty-training, our volunteers will do their best to help with that effort. If you have any other specific instructions for the BabyQuest volunteers regarding your child, please let them know at the door when you drop them off.

Safety First

For your child’s safety, we maintain a ratio of no more than 2 infants to 1 volunteer, no more than 3 toddlers (under 2) to 1 volunteer, and in the Swimmers class no more than 5 children to 1 volunteer. We allow mature junior volunteers to care for these age groups as well. All adult volunteers are background-checked. Our computerized registration system makes check-in easy and increases classroom security. You and your child will receive a security ID code. In order to check your child out of the nursery, you must present the security ID code that corresponds with your child’s code. If we need to reach you for any reason, we will send you a text via our check-in system, asking you to return to the Quest area. Please make sure you have your phone visible (on silent), so that you don’t miss the text, and bring your child’s code sticker when you come.

Health & Hygiene

In our effort to keep the BabyQuest facilities as clean and free from germs as possible, all engaged toys and surfaces are cleaned with a 1:1 alcohol and water mixture after each service. Families are advised to keep their children home when they have evidence of illness.
