Registration for fall ESL classes will take place on Tuesday, September 7, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 8, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

International Connection began in 1990 as a tutoring program with two teachers and just a few students. As more internationals moved into the Reston/Herndon community, the tutoring program expanded into small classes. In September 1998, the program was given the name International Connection and the classes moved to the main campus of Reston Bible Church. Since then, the program has expanded to include eight classes of adult English instruction, four on Tuesday nights and four on Wednesday morning. The classes are divided by comprehension level – Literacy, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. International Connection offers free childcare and a Homework Club that provides tutoring for the grade-school children of our evening students.

Nearly 100 internationals from 25 different countries around the world — and speaking 14 different languages — enroll in our English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Many students come from countries that are closed to the Gospel. While living in the U.S., they are eager not only to learn English, but also American culture and explore Christianity.

We are committed to creating a place where internationals are welcomed and cared for. We seek to provide not only quality English teaching but also opportunities to experience true Christian community. Friendships are nurtured, needs are met, and students are challenged to progress in their journey towards a relationship with Christ.

Registration for our fall and spring classes are held twice a year, in September and in January.Classes run from mid-September through early May, Tuesday nights from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. or Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Students are tested and placed in the appropriate level according to their speaking, reading, and writing abilities. A small registration fee ($30 per semester) covers all books and materials. We also offer an optional Bible discussion group at various times throughout the year. There are no classes through the summer but we offer a Conversation Partners’ program for intermediate through advanced-level students.
