Sr. High Student Leadership Team
The student leadership team is a discipleship oriented program where sophomore, junior, and senior students will have the opportunity to be more intentionally disciplined by the youth staff while at the same time being granted leadership opportunities within the ministry.
The goal of this program will be to build up students who are seeking the Lord and equip them to properly be able to serve the body of Christ.
The theme verse for the program is Ephesians 4:11-12: “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.”
How will we do this?
We will have monthly meetings that will consist of the following. We will also hold special meetings that will be completely service oriented.
-
Review of Book Study. Students will go through discipleship materials in order to grow them in their faith and leadership skills. The first book will be Jesus on Leadership by C. Gene Wilkes (Students will be required to purchase their own book)
-
Students will have the opportunity to lead a group of their peers in discussion surrounding the scripture passage for the meeting.
-
Discipleship time with a staff member. Students will be assigned a staff member to intentionally check in with them throughout the year.
-
Ministry Feedback and Input. Students will have the opportunity to give feedback and suggestions on how the ministry is going and how it can be improved.
-
Service Opportunities Examples. Serving at a homeless shelter as a group, supporting another RBC or community ministry in need, supporting an RBC family who is in need (moving, food, prayer, etc)
What will the commitment look like?
Generally, there will be 1 meeting a month from the months of September to May, directly following the second service. Some exceptions may be made (holidays, camps and retreats, etc). We will also have different service and leadership opportunities for students as they arise. These will be optional but highly encouraged. Dates for these are coming.
We ask that students who commit to this would prioritize these meetings and commit to missing no more than 2 meetings throughout the year. Students who miss more than 2 meetings without a valid excuse may be removed from the team.
Dates of meetings:
- September 20
- October 18
- November 15
- December 3
- January 31, 2027
- February 28, 2027
- April 11, 2027
- May 2, 2027
What types of leadership opportunities will there be?
Leadership opportunities will vary but we would love to see our students in this team grow as trendsetters in the ministry. Our hope is that as they are discipled and grow in their relationship with the Lord that their leadership will be the subtle but influential type. At the same time, there will be some practical opportunities.
-
Speaking opportunities at events (testimonies, gospel presentation, others) or services (announcements)
-
Table leader substitutes & Substitute Small Group Leaders
-
Giving input on sermon series and ministry needs
