- What was one big takeaway for you from this message about the supremacy of God expressed through Jesus Christ?
- Read Colossians 1:15-16. Paul says that Jesus is the image of the invisible God and that all things were created by Him and for Him. How does knowing that you were created by Christ and for Christ shape your sense of identity and purpose? Where are you tempted to find identity apart from Him and His authority?
- Read Colossians 1:17. In Jesus, all things hold together. What does this truth mean for your everyday life, especially in seasons of anxiety or uncertainty? Can you think of a recent moment when you needed to be reminded that Jesus is holding things together?
- Read Colossians 1:18. Christ is the head of the body, the church. What does it look like practically to live under the leadership of Christ in your local church? What is keeping you from seeing church as a vital way of being connected to Christ?
- Read Colossians 1:18-20. Jesus is the “firstborn from the dead. ” How does Christ’s resurrection give you hope in this life and in facing death? How might this truth reshape how you think about suffering or the future?
- Read Colossians 1:21-23. Paul describes our former state as alienated but now reconciled through Christ. In what ways do you still struggle to believe that you are reconciled and “holy, blameless, and above reproach” in Christ? How can we encourage each other to continue steadfastly in the faith and not drift?
