Save the date for a summer book club kickoff on Wednesday, June 4, at 7:00 p.m. at Reston Bible Church.

The first meeting will be all together on June 4, and the remaining 5 meetings will be at the location you select when you register.

This summer, all Book Club groups will be reading the same book, which is called Before You Open Your Bible, by Matt Smethurst. There are a few reasons we are choosing to do this. First, in an effort to continue to build community, it would provide a good connection point for us all to read the same book. Second, with a desire to encourage women to continue (or start!) faithfully pursuing truth in God’s Word, this is a great book to help create the right heart posture for this. Third, we strongly desire to help cultivate a culture of discipling one another as sisters in Christ, and this book helps lay a foundation for ways to do this well.

We have multiple options for when and where groups will be meeting. Our hope is that you can find one that will meet your needs. We’d love to have lots of women join us this summer! The book is quite short, but the discussions will be rich. Even if you have to miss a meeting or two due to your summer schedule, don’t let that stop you from signing up!

Prayer is the most dynamic discipline in the life of a believer, yet it may be the most misunderstood and the least taught. This six-session Bible study shows believers that following Jesus’ Model Prayer will lead them to fall more in love with God and grow in their desire to engage in conversation with Him. Impactful, inspiring video sessions introduced by Pastor Steve Gaines include interview segments with proven leaders: J. D. Greear, Robby Gallaty, Kelly Minter, Lisa Harper, Ed Litton, H. B. Charles, and more.

In this Bible study you will understand how seeing God as Father affects your prayer life, grasp the significance of God’s invitation to call on His holy name, learn how a prayerful posture leads to an understanding of God’s will, and develop spiritual maturity and a knowledge of God’s kingdom.

Our Summer Book Clubs are a fun opportunity where women grow spiritually and connect with others through engaging conversations around a book that is chosen to inspire sanctification, encouragement, and build community.

What Are Summer Book Clubs?

Each year by early May we announce that summer’s book for the RBC-W Summer Book Club. The book club then starts in early June and runs for 6 weeks.

How Do Book Clubs Work?

Once the book is announced registration opens online, on this page, where women of all ages can sign up. At that time, you will have the option to select your location and the day/time that works best with your schedule.

Women who register are often grouped by their location. Our heart for managing groups in this way is to help you meet other women who live near you that you might not get to know in the larger context of our Sunday Services. This allows you to build friendships and local community within our body that lasts far beyond our 6-week book club.

Women then meet weekly in someone’s home and their book club leader will lead the group through thoughtful and relatable questions based around that week’s chapter(s).

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the book that is chosen?
We intentionally choose a book that is smaller in size, but rich in content. This allows for readers of all levels to enjoy club and not be overwhelmed by a large amount of reading.

What if I don’t like to read?
Not to worry! We always choose a book that is also available as an audiobook. You can purchase a copy through many services like Audible or Christian Audio and listen through their app on any device. We also try to choose a book that is available on the library service “Hoopla” so women can also choose to listen for free if that suites them best.

How do I get Hoopla?
Loudoun County residents simply need a library card to have access to this service (an app). And if you don’t live in Loudoun County, you can get a “reciprocal” library card with Prince William County (even if you don’t live there) and gain access to Hoopla through their library system.

How do I volunteer to lead a group?
We are so excited you are interested in leading or hosting a group! Just email Kris Fredericks at krisfredericks@restonbible.org and let her know you’re interested! If we are looking for a leader in your area she will walk you through how groups are led to ensure it’s a good fit for you!
