Why Us, Why Here, Why Now
The power of influence is greater than the power of position. RBC can influence the world with the Gospel by pursuing racial diversity, outreach, generosity, and being a safe place for sinners who are weary and burdened.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR SHEPHERD GROUPS
- What was one part of this message that particularly encouraged or challenged you?
- Why is the power of influence ultimately greater than the power of position or authority?
- What are some ways that RBC can become known more for what we’re for than what we’re against? How can we do that as a small group? As families? As individuals?
- Read Revelation 5:13-14 and Proverbs 27:17. Why is racial diversity something we want to strive for as a church? How do we pursue that objective?
- Read Galatians 2:10. How does meeting the physical and emotional needs of people in our community help us to make Christ known?
- Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-15. What should generosity look like? Why does the Lord ask us to give our money back to Him?
- What does it mean for our church to be a “safe” place? Is your shepherd group safe? How can we demonstrate that Christ’s yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30)?
- What would it look like to the world if we had all of these dynamics representing our church? Spend some time praying that RBC, and your shepherd group, would become more influential in this region and the world, for the glory of God and the building up of His kingdom
