The Scriptures understand the human heart well beyond human knowledge. The Bible is wisdom floating on a sea of knowledge, and it was written to make us wise unto salvation.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR SHEPHERD GROUPS
- What was one thing about this message that you found particularly compelling, encouraging, challenging, or beneficial?
- In what ways is the Bible a “commentary on itself”? What analogies does the Bible have for itself, and why are they significant?
- Read and discuss Hebrews 4:12-13 and Hebrews 5:11-14. What is your reaction to these verses? In what ways is the Word of God “living”? What are the implications of this?
- How has your life been impacted by the Word of God? What has it done in your life?
- How do you respond to the following statement? “The gospel is best communicated by humble conviction through those who believe it to be observed by those who don’t.” How have you seen this principle in action?
- Consider this statement: “The Bible is wisdom sitting in a sea of knowledge.” What’s the difference between knowledge and wisdom? Why is it important to know the difference?
- In what ways do you need to move “from milk to meat” in regards to the Word of God?
- Spend some time in prayer for the things you’ve discussed. Give thanks to God for His Word, which makes us “wise unto salvation.”
