As we continue through the book of Ecclesiastes, we see that the alternative to life under the sun is kingdom living – living in/from/for/through the kingdom of God. Living a “kingdom life” is possible only by grace, not by grit – it is a spiritual endeavor, not one of the flesh and is only possible through Jesus Christ.

As we continue to see the contradictory nature of Ecclesiastes and life “under the sun,” we see that riches are also a vain chasing after the wind. The desire to have something is always greater than the satisfaction of actually having it. Our insatiable desire to be satisfied is constantly thwarted by our inability to be satisfied.
