Each believer is uniquely gifted by God with spiritual gifts and talents, and these are meant to be used “for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:7). Yet, there is constant spiritual warfare raging all around us, all the time – we simply fail to see it. The spiritual battles being fought are meant to keep Christians from being a gift to the church and subtly remove us from “active duty.”

There is a false dichotomy prevalent in our culture that draws a dividing line between the laity and clergy – only “special” Christians participate in “real ministry.” We must recalibrate our thinking of “church” to rest primarily upon a biblical view, where all believers in Christ are saints and are thus equipped for the work of ministry through His power. There should be no mere spectators in the arena of the local church.
