DESCRIPTION:The Engagement Project Class is an essential training course for everyone at RBC to learn how God is leading us to make Him known in our world today.\nThis core course will help us understand the singular calling we each have from God; to love our neighbors and as we do\, to introduce them to Jesus. If you are new to RBC\, never had the opportunity to take this course\, or want a refresher – this is your opportunity! The class will cover the video training by Del Tackett and then discuss how to apply the key points in small groups at round tables. Dr. Tackett gives a rich biblical understanding of God’s desire for each of us to bear much fruit and to see Him actively at work in our lives and in the lives of others. Many who have taken this course have shared how it gave them a greater passion for the Lord\, a greater purpose in their lives\, and a genuine compassion for those that God has put around them. In this class\, you will also have the opportunity to meet others at RBC as you discuss the training and seek to apply it together. A graduate of Central Washington University\, Rod was a 4-year letterman and starter on the football team\, and earned Academic All-American honors during his senior year. He also earned his CPA license while working for Ernst and Whinney\, prior to joining FCA. He is an ordained minister. Rod is also the co-founder of TGIW (“Teaching Guys Infinite Wisdom”) a ministry which began in Lee’s Summit\, MO in September 2001. Today\, TGIW groups are meeting all over the world. \nRod has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) until his departure in May 2000. Rod began working for FCA in 1986\, initially serving in Seattle as the Assistant State Director for Washington. He moved to Kansas City in 1989 to work at the FCA National Headquarters. \nRod has published over 30 books including\, Character Counts-Who’s Counting Yours? which details how to begin the process of being accountable to one another. The book is a practical tool for helping people who desire to be people of character and integrity. \nRod and his wife\, Janna\, have been married 33 years and they live in Lee’s Summit\, MO. If there are a group of women who don’t want to go that full distance\, we can split into two groups to make shorter and longer hike options. Trail conditions may be muddy\, and there are some stream crossings with stepping stones\, so plan accordingly. \nWe will meet at the Great Falls Safeway Parking lot (9881 Georgetown Pike) at 8:15 a.m. to carpool. We will leave at 8:30 a.m. for the trailhead (8801 Georgetown Pike). Parking at the trail is quite limited\, so please plan to carpool as much as possible. Bring a friend!

DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS “FIRST FRUITS”?\nFirst Fruits is a service project that has rallied the RBC church body for over 30 years. It is a unique serving opportunity for families\, Shepherd Groups\, and individuals to come together and make a difference in the lives and families in our area who are in need of help and encouragement. Join us and you will be blessed to see the tangible “fruits” of your labors! \nWelcome Park View students! Please look for the Park View Volunteer button below to represent your school at this event. \nThe project mainly consists of two parts: \n\nTeams of youth and adults do work all day for people in Northern Virginia who give toward the project.\nAt the end of the day\, the teams use the money raised to buy groceries and other supplies for people in need within our local community. Each team delivers the groceries and gift cards to the family that evening. Excess funds are used to help others beyond that night. Since 2012 this has included RBC helping more than 80 students realize their dream of going to college by awarding Perseverance Scholarships at five local high schools.\n\n\nHOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?\n1. Give us a JOB that we can do for you around your house.\nMany ask us to: rake leaves\, mulch\, garden\, clean\, simple home projects\, or anything you need that we can do! Jobs are for a 2-hour time slot and are taken on a first-come basis until we reach the limit we can accomplish. \nSign up to provide a job\n\n2.
