SUMMARY:Family Mission Haiti - Interest Meeting
DESCRIPTION:RBC-supported national pastor Francois Romelus and his wife Madou have been serving the Lord in Pignon\, Haiti\, for over 30 years.\nThey currently lead a church of 200+ people\, run the local primary school of 350+ children\, care for a large number of widows\, and operate an orphanage with ~70 children ranging in age from 3 to 20. \nThis team will be running a VBS style outreach to the neighborhood children and practically caring for the orphans in several ways. We will be doing some work to improve the living conditions of the orphans and have opportunities to just play with and love them. The mission will be very similar to previous trips as we hope to build deeper relationships with the community there. \nThis trip is designed to be parent/student so that families can join in serving and sharing the Hope of the Gospel together. Multiple team training meetings will be required to prepare spiritually and develop ministry skills (e.g.\, skits). \nDownload the Student Application\nDownload the Parent Application\nDownload the Flyer\nCost\nThe cost will be around $1\,250 per person. \nThe final cost will be set after airfare is purchased\, and includes transportation\, and all food and lodging in Haiti. Additional expenses may include obtaining a passport and necessary vaccines\, souvenirs\, and snacks. We are working on creating fundraising options for students to work for some of their expenses. \nWho Can Apply?\nJr. High (6th-8th grade) students and their parent(s). A student cannot apply without a parent\, and a parent must apply with a Jr. High student. If space allows\, additional family members (e.g.\, both parents\, older siblings) may be considered. \nTeam Size and Selection\nThe total team size is limited to about 20\, due to the limitations of our accommodations in Haiti. At this time we envision the team to consist of about 9 family units.
