WEDDING FACILITY POLICY
The facility is normally reserved for both the wedding rehearsal and the wedding ceremony. Due to weekend services and the large number of ministries at RBC, the church is typically only available for weddings on Saturday mornings and for rehearsals on Friday evenings. All Saturday weddings must be scheduled to begin no later than 1:00 p.m. No weddings may be scheduled the five weeks before Easter, the week before and of Vacation Bible School, and the week of Missions Conference.
Wedding Coordinator:
All couples asking to be married at RBC are required to use the Wedding Coordinator. She will assist you with the use of the facilities through the entire wedding planning process, including being present at the rehearsal and the wedding ceremony itself.
Rooms Normally Used for Weddings:
1. The Sanctuary is available for the wedding ceremony and now seats approximately 600.
2. The Cry Room located at the back of the Sanctuary is available for wedding guests with babies during the ceremony.
3. The Facility Manager’s office to the right of the stage is normally used by the groom and groomsmen prior to their entrance.
4. The Cry Room is normally used as the men’s dressing room before the ceremony.
5. A large room downstairs (Room 111) with a mirror is available as a bridal dressing room.
6. There are restrooms available both upstairs and downstairs.
7. The church does not accommodate reception parties.
* NO smoking is permitted inside the building or anywhere on the premises.
What Can Be Moved?
Most equipment on the stage can be removed for the wedding ceremony. The table at the front of the sanctuary may be placed on stage for use as a communion/unity candle table. We are unable to relocate the piano.
Sound System:
The sound system is required for all approved events in the Sanctuary, and your Wedding Coordinator will arrange for an RBC-approved Sound Technician. Only approved Sound Technicians may run the sound equipment at the church. The RBC Sound Techs are all trained volunteers and since they all have regular full-time jobs, any activities at the church are considered overtime. Because each of the Sound Technicians work during the day, wedding rehearsals must typically be scheduled in the evening on the Friday before the wedding. The scope of the Sound Tech’s responsibility is to move the sound equipment on the stage, set up any requested sound equipment for your wedding, and then reset the equipment after the wedding. He is not responsible for moving anything else in the Sanctuary. Please discuss all your microphone, recording, and audio needs with the Wedding Coordinator so we can determine if our equipment can accommodate your needs.
Fees:
There will be a $100 deposit required at the time of the wedding date reservation. This deposit will be refunded after the facilities are cleaned and returned to their original condition.
There is no fee for the use of the building; however, there is a $550 fee which covers the Wedding Coordinator Fees, Facility setup/cleanup, and the Sound Technician’s fee. This payment is required 30 days prior to the wedding date. This fee covers the basic wedding set up including a wider center aisle, removal of the sound items from the stage and moving the table on stage for communion/unity candle (if desired). Please contact the Wedding Coordinator to discuss the cost of other setup options.
Herring Hall may be available for Rehearsal Dinners. Set up and clean up will be the responsibility of the wedding party (tables and chairs are available). Kitchen facilities may not be used, so food will have to be brought in. No other rooms may be used, as they will be set up for weekend use. The Wedding Coordinator will be present to ensure that Herring Hall is returned to its pre-dinner condition and to assist as needed. There is a $100 fee for use of Herring Hall.
Sanctuary Decoration:
A limited selection of items has been donated for use in decorating the sanctuary. Please contact your Wedding Coordinator to see what may be available. Your wedding coordinator will arrange times for delivery of flowers and for decorating. Please note:
1. Flowers used must be in clean, rustfree, leakproof containers.
2. No nails, tacks, or tape are to be used.
3. Please arrange to have all flowers removed at the end of the ceremony.
4. Pew bows and an aisle runner are available.
5. To prevent dripping on the floor, only dripless candles may be used.
Pastor:
There is no set fee for the Pastor. Please remember the time he spends with you in counseling sessions, his message preparation, the rehearsals, and traveling expenses as you consider your gift to him. Your gift to the Pastor should be given directly to him.
Music and Instruments:
1. The piano is available should you chose to arrange for your own pianist for the ceremony. Due to limited availability, Reston Bible Church does not provide pianists for weddings.
2. None of the other musical instruments at the front of the church are available.
3. There are no musicians or vocalists available. You may, however, arrange for your own musicians and/or vocalists. Please check with the Wedding Coordinator to coordinate the sound needs for your musician’s instruments or if you have any questions or requests regarding RBC’s audio/visual resources.
Videotaping:
We currently do not have the capability to videotape your service. If you have someone or wish to hire someone to videotape for you, please let the Wedding Coordinator know as soon as possible so that she can set up a meeting with your Sound Technician.
Questions:
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the facility or these policies please feel free to contact one of the Wedding Coordinators at any time. Contact information may be found in the RBC Wedding Policies.
