There are tons of ways to serve at RBC. With a variety of ministries, needs, with various times, commitment levels, and locations...from providing meals to families in need to leading Shepherd Groups...there is a place for you to serve at RBC!
If you are interested in serving at RBC and need direction or information, contact Kemper DeGroot at kemperdegroot@restonbible.org. Kemper will help assess your availability and interests and connect you with compatible volunteer needs that you may be interested in. Here are a few ministries that are always looking for extra help:
Host Team
-Assist with practical needs during weekend services (Ushers, Greeters, Welcome Center Attendants, Parking Attendants, Bookstore). More info
Kids
-Sunday School Substitute Teachers, Nursery Workers. Contact: Eugene Catedral
-Teaching and Small Group Leader positions are now available to lead our 2 year olds through 5th graders for the summer months. Vacation plans? No problem! Substitutes are provided. Join the team and be an important part of training up the next generation. Visit us at the Welcome Desk in Herring Hall, pick up a form from one of the ministry walls and place it in an offering box, or contact Eugene Catedral.
Junior High (Counterpart)

Senior High (Gap)

-Special Event volunteers to help with Sunday evening events

Bulletin
We are looking for volunteers to come in on Friday mornings to help collate the bulletin. The amount of time required to collate the bulletin varies week to week. Bookstore
We are looking for a few volunteers to assist in the bookstore between the services. No training is needed as we now have available a synopsis of each book in the bookstore, provided by Dave and Becky Waldrup. This will be an invaluable aid to anyone helping in the bookstore as well as for those who are not sure which book to purchase. Sermon Recording
We are in need of some volunteers to record and duplicate sermons at the weekend services (we record the Saturday night service and the 10am Sunday service). If you regularly attend either of those services and would like to volunteer, please contact Oral Mizelle at o.mizelle@gmail.com. Basic computer knowledge is required, and specific training is provided.
Media Center
The downstairs Media Center provides copies of past and current sermon series and teachings in CD and cassette tape format. It is open for 15-20 minutes after each of the weekend worship services. If you would be willing to stay after the service you regularly attend 1-2 weekends a month to staff the Media Center, please contact Travis Larkin at tlarkin@mideosystems.com. Training is provided.
Ushers
We are currently in need of several men to usher during the 11:00 service. Duties include assisting in handing out bulletins, seating people and directing visitors to children’s ministry/cry room, etc. If you are interested in helping in this important ministry and sense the Lord is calling you to serve in this capacity, please contact Kemper Degroot at 703-478-9730 or kemperdegroot@restonbible.org.
COMMUNITY MINISTRIES & OUTREACH
HELPING HANDS Helping Hands is a ministry designed to serve the local and RBC communities through home maintenance and repair assistance. In short, we provide “handyman” services to families in need. For example, if you’re willing to fix a leaky sink, move a heavy object, change a light fixture, paint, do some yard work or change a lock, Helping Hands could use your help! We’re looking for volunteers of all skill levels from those who are highly skilled, to those who simply have a heart to serve. We also partner with like-hearted organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Hearts & Hammers, and Rebuilding Together in renovating or building homes for needy families.
CLOTHING EXCHANGE The Clothing Exchange is an annual clothing give away for RBC church families and the local community. Once a year, clothing is collected from the church body, sorted, and then made available to the public. A tract is handed out explaining Christ’s great exchange for our sins, and information is also made available about the various ministries here at RBC. Leftover clothing is donated to various ministries. In the past clothing has been sent to refugees in Afghanistan, children in Iraq, hurricane victims in Florida, Crisis Pregnancy centers and to the poverty stricken in South Carolina as well as several local ministries.
TALL OAKS For eighteen years, Tall Oaks ministry has been meeting the needs of the elderly living at Tall Oaks Fellowship House who cannot get out to attend church services. Currently, members of RBC minister on the first three Sundays of every month from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Our service consists of praise, prayer and preaching of the Word and visitation afterwards.
SUNRISE ASSISTED LIVING For more than six years, Sunrise Assisted Living ministry has been meeting the needs of the elderly living at Sunrise in Reston who cannot get out to attend church services. Currently, members of the RBC minister on every other Sunday at 10:00 a.m. We conduct a service where we play familiar hymns then one of our men teaches a message based on that hymn.
