Join us in the Gap Room as we continue throughout the gospels looking at the impact that Christ made on the individuals of that time, while we examine and share from our lives to see how He continues to impact lives today. Pastor Mike and a number of the men will look back, share what they have learned in journeys past and explore what they continue to learn through their ongoing walk with Jesus Christ. The format includes about 30-35 minutes of teaching followed by open discussion and real life application.
What the Bible Says About the Church w/Ray Shoaff, Wednesday mornings 6:00 – 7:00 a.m. (Herring Hall at the main campus)
A common modern topic of discussion is "what is church?" The Church Growth Movement has been active in the past decades and remains an ongoing point of discussion today. People ask questions like "where are we (the church at RBC) going?" So what does the Bible say about the church? Come find out about this very practical subject that directly affects all of our lives.
We'll look at what makes a gathering of people a "church", what are the key elements of a healthy church, what should the church be doing, how is a church to be led, what about "clergy" and "laity", what is every individual's due responsibility in the church, etc. Note that this topic is part of a continuing series covering all the major teachings of the Bible (Systematic Theology) and is designed so that men can plug into the cycle of topics at any time.

Devotional Classics by Richard J. Foster & James Bryan Smith, w/ John Hazlett & Michael Drake, Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30am, Room 111 - downstairs at the main campus
Richard J. Foster is most recognized for his book entitled Celebration of Discipline (1981), a book that Christianity Today named one of the Top 10 books of the 20th Century. In his introduction to Devotional Classics he writes the following: "We today suffer from the unexamined notion that the more recent something is the better... This book is an attempt to counter this present-day myopia and brings together 52 carefully chosen selections from the great devotional classics."
In this 14-week TFM class, participants will be encouraged to read four of the devotions each week and prepare to discuss the primary one during our time together. Selected readings are from giants of the faith like Edwards, Augustine, Merton, Nouwen, Luther, Calvin, Bunyan, Taylor, Wesley, Bonhoeffer, Spurgeon, Chesterton, and Brother Lawrence. They are all relatively brief but dripping with depth and insight. Similar to our session in the fall, we will also pair up each week with different brothers in the group to facilitate more focused prayer for each other and fellowship opportunities. We are also exploring the idea of a service project together.

"But I Want It!" Building a Trusting Relationship With Our Heavenly Father w/Brad Hummel, Wednesday Nights – 7:00pm - 8:00 pm (Herring Hall at the main campus)
"BUT I WANT IT!!!" If you have ever had children, you’ve heard them say that. But, as a parent you also realize you can’t give them everything they want. And as good as we want to be as parents and teachers we are still fallen but there is one Father who isn’t. In Luke 11:11-12 Jesus says ‘"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”’.
But, do we really trust God in every aspect of our lives to give us his best? Overcoming our sinful disobedient nature is a daily challenge and if we are honest we need the Lord and other Christian men in our lives. We will be using the NOOMA video Series and group discussion to expose many of the deceptions promoted by the world about our Father and learn the skills required to live a life that will make each of us a light in a dark world.

Proven Men w/Romey Burgin, Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. (STARTS IN FEBRUARY - contact Romey for details)
Lust is a battle for us all. Christians--both men and women--have struggled with it for generations. Many have measured their or others' spirituality on the basis of their freedom from lust. Yet for all the interest focused on lust it would seem that we ought to be far more clear about the problem and its solution. What exactly is lust, why is it so hard to change, and how can we deal with its power to shape our lives?
Proven Men is a 13-week biblically based discussion group that will show you, through grace, the way to victorious living. Dozens of men from RBC have already completed the course and are living victorious lives.
