ABOUT ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIPS: Adult Bible Fellowships (ABFs) are mid-sized groups that meet regularly for fellowship and to encourage one another around in-depth study of God’s Word. The groups have quality teaching based on Scripture, led by men with a gift for presenting God's Word in an interesting and engaging way. The groups have an interactive atmosphere in which questions can be asked freely, and difficult topics are addressed in an open and straightforward manner. ABFs meet on Sunday with the intent that you may attend a worship service during one block, and attend an ABF during another. Contact the individual leaders/teachers for specific questions regarding the class offerings. For general questions about Adult Bible Fellowships, please contact Ray Shoaff (703-625-5595,

).MINISTRY TO CHILDREN DURING ABFs: For parents of children pre-K through elementary, we recommend your children attend Quest during the hour you’re in the worship service and the Tree House Ministry during the hour you’re in an Adult Bible Fellowship (or vice versa). Children may attend Quest during any of the three morning services. The Tree House Ministry meets during the second service upstairs in Room 238. Another alternative is that your children attend the worship service with you and then go to Quest when you’re attending an Adult Bible Fellowship. For parents with Senior and/or Junior High age teens, we recommend your children attend the worship service with you during either the first or third services, and that the parents attend an Adult Bible Fellowship while their children are in the youth meeting during the second service. CURRENT ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIPS: The current ABF offerings, described below, include a variety of topics, lengths, and meeting times on Sunday. ABFs meet on Sunday - when most people are already here anyway - with the intent that you may attend a worship service during one block, and attend an ABF during another. COURSE OFFERINGS BY MEETING TIME:
THE BEREANSThe Bereans | 2nd Service - 9:15 a.m. Sundays | Room 250 | Ray Shoaff | *Ongoing - No registration needed “Bereans” is a reference to the people who lived in the town of Berea during the early church age, and they are described in Acts 17 as a group that “searched the Scriptures daily”. That’s what happens in our Berean Adult Bible Fellowship – we search the Scriptures! So, if you are looking for a place to dig deep into God’s Word and share that joyful experience with others, then come to the Bereans Adult Bible Fellowship group. Bereans typically do book studies, selecting a book of the Bible and going through it verse by verse and topic by topic. We don’t follow a particular schedule but rather go at a pace so as to thoroughly cover whatever text we’re in. Here are some of the other characteristics of Bereans:
The Life of Abraham: Abraham is a biblical character of huge proportion. He occupies a revered place in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. We’ll study the seven “visits” Abraham receives by God and how they took him from being a pagan who worshiped “other gods” to the great man of faith described in Hebrews 11 yet with lots of victories and stumbles in between – just as we experience. The Bereans enjoy refreshments and fellowship from 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. At 9:45, the group gathers for welcoming of visitors, announcements, praise and prayer, and teaching. If you have questions or would like more information, contact Ray Shoaff (703-443-8321 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. | *Begins January 15 - Please registerWhat is the Bible all about? Why is it structured the way that it is? How should we read it? How do we make sense of it? How do we navigate its complexities? During your life, you may have had some of these questions about the Bible, or in your journey to read the Bible in its entirety you encountered Leviticus, which seemed to be more of cure for insomnia than solace for your soul. In this 10-week course, we’ll explore the overarching narrative that holds the entire Bible together. These 10-weeks will focus on God’s redemptive plan as communicated in the Bible and help us understand why certain books that at first seem odd or unnecessary are actually integral to the substance of our faith. This class will also seek to provide some biblical context for understanding difficult passages and historic occurrences. The class will be conducted in a traditional Jewish Midrash fashion where we take a representative passage and have a guided and intentional dialogue around the Biblical text. It’s fun. It’s engaging. And it just may make you explore a little deeper how God tells the story of history and challenge you on exactly which story you are living by. But how do we know if the book we pull off the shelf is right? Should we follow the trend to have a psychologist examine our child so that we can find the method that is "right for him/her"? Reston Bible Church believes that God has made every child unique, but that He also supplied the ultimate guidebook that applies to raising all children - the Bible. RBC provides a series of parenting courses to equip parents to raise the next generation:

Jesus said if we love Him, we will keep His commandments (John 14:15). His commands act like fixed lights that can be trusted to guide us, as we, united with His life, confront the storms of life. Did you know there are at least six rewards we get from keeping Christ’s commands? Jesus told us to “...observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you...” (Matthew 28:19-20), thus we must know the commands in order to observe them. This will not be a new rigorous list of laws to burden us that contradict grace but rather specific truths that grace imparts to govern and fashion our beliefs and choices. Scripture is not simply true, it is effectual. It does more than announce, it accomplishes. It provides more than information, it imparts life. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, scripture produces what it proclaims. We will provide refreshments, time for informal conversation, fellowship, and the opportunity to discuss questions in a non-threatening atmosphere. Please join us that we might be blessed together as we study God’s Word. For information, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
