Reston Bible Church, through the Global and Local Missions Committees,
supports a total of 230 missionary families in the United States and in
54 countries around the world. The vast majority of these families are
serving globally. RBC commits a large percentage of our annual budget -
approximately 1.7 million dollars per year - towards missions.

In the United States, the ministries we support include prison ministries,
Sanctity of Life Ministries, ministries in local high schools and college
campuses, as well as church planting in certain U.S.-based Asian
populations. Internationally, we support church planters and ministries
worldwide. Over half of these missionaries are national pastors and
evangelists serving in their native countries. The remaining missionaries
are people raised up in churches in the United States to serve on foreign
fields around the world. Fourteen of these missionaries were raised at
Reston Bible Church.

Global missions and local missions are administered through two separate
committees, the Global Missions Committee and the Local Missions
Committee. The process for each committee to take on new missionaries
varies based uopn budgetary situations, but global missions took on nine
new missionaries and local missions took on three within the last year.
RBC is also a member of the Northern Virginia Missionary Consortium.
This is a group of five like-minded local churches working together to send
missionaries, who have been raised up from within these five churches,
to the mission field as quickly as possible. The other churches include
Cherrydale Baptist, Immanuel Bible, Chantilly Bible, and Grace Bible.

The Adopt-a-Missionary program is designed to encourage our missionaries
and assist the congregation in getting to know them. “Adoption” consists
mainly of prayer and communication but can include phone calls, visits,
gifts, etc. “Adoption” can be done by a family or a Shepherd Group.
Another significant way to get involved is to house missionaries during the
Annual Missions Conference and throughout the year when missionaries
pass through our area.
