Steve Blanchard

Steve was born and raised in Massachusetts. He spent much of his time as a youth playing organized sports and exploring nature all over New England. While growing up, Steve worked with his dad, a general contractor, who passed on a knowledge and love for most of the building trades. Steve graduated from Colorado State University in 1978 with a B.S. in Watershed Sciences and from Oregon State in 1986 with a M.S. in Water Resources Engineering. Steve began a career with the U.S. Geological Survey as a hydrologist in 1978 and still works with them today; he currently serves as the Chief of the Office of Surface Water.

Steve was raised a Catholic and came to Christ as a freshman in high school. God used questions about evolution from public school classes and its impact on the meaning of life to draw Steve to salvation.

Steve and his wife Julia have been married 28 years and have 4 children โ€” Seth, Luke, Ruth, and Faith โ€” whom they homeschooled through all grades. Steve and his family have lived in Sterling since 1996; prior to that, they lived in Illinois (1986-96) and in Northern VA (1978โ€“86). Steve and Julia started attending RBC in 1978 and Steve served as an elder in the early 1980s.

Steve has a passion for teaching God's word and for the creation science ministry. Steve has taught weekly adult home Bible studies for more than 20 years. Steve and Julia also have a heart for missions. Steve has lead RBC sponsored short-term missions trips to Bolivia, Ukraine, Italy, and Brazil. Julia is very active in the youth ministry.
