Pete Conelly

Pete was born in Boston, Massachusetts, making the front page in the newspaper as “Triplets born in Boston!” Most of his relatives still live in New England, as they tend to stay close to the nest. However, as a child of an Air Force pilot, his family moved a few times and settled in Orlando Florida, where he was raised from 5th grade through college.

Pete graduated from the University of Florida and is an avid Gator fan. He learned of the “gift of salvation”, the gospel of Jesus Christ, while in his senior year, and trusted Christ as his Savior years later at the age of 25.

Pete is blessed to have been married to his wife, Alice for over 30 years, and they have two children who have business careers here in the Northern Virginia area. Alice was also raised in Orlando, having moved from Kentucky. The Connellys lived in Orlando, Mobile, and Raleigh before moving to this area.

Pete and Alice moved to the Reston area in 1979 and joined Reston Bible Church, then about 200 people meeting in South Lakes High School. He worked for Johnson & Johnson, M&M Mars and other consumer products companies in sales management before he switched to the high tech world in 1987 at a local software company. One motive for that move was to stay and establish roots for the family since they loved this area. Since then, Pete worked for a few small software companies before joining Oracle in 2001, where he continues today within the sales department. For recreation, Pete and family enjoy golf, boating, water and snow skiing, music, and travel.

During the 27 years of fellowship at Reston Bible Church, Pete has been active in a number of ministries, including: leading a shepherd group most of the 27 years, leading a missions trip to County Cork Ireland, teaching Sunday school, choir, ushering, and guitar-worship with teens and men’s ministry. Pete came on the Elder Board of RBC in early 2006.
